Adventure gamers from the old school will remember Jane Jensen, from the Gabriel Knight games. She also does other adventure games and some great books. She pretty much hits the nail on the head when it comes to Film, Books, and Gaming in the world today in her recent interview on The Escapist.

The problem is, and this is my curmudgeon surfacing, the creative industries in America are fucked. Film, books, TV, games, it's all become about marketing. A committee of marketers will sit there and say, "What's the last thing that did well? Do that." And the MMOG thing was like that for a while, but then you have a $20 million project fail, and the marketers say, "It's dead, it's dead." I never got into the MMOG thing because I even have trouble playing poker online. I don't want to deal with some snotty 12-year old from Iowa.

Next up we have a STUNNING article about the days of adventure games from Infocom to now, and how things have changed and NOT for the better. Watch your step as you are likely to be eaten by a grue.

this game sucks. i played the beta, no tutorials, people never help you out at all. i spent 16 years trying to learn the rules and the controls, i didnt get my frist familiar til i was lvl. 15. not worth the effort. the storyline is horrible, all the bosses are women, and they have to fight you for the most ridiculous reasons, they dont even make sense, and they give the worst rewards ever. So, ok, the graphics are cool and the sound system is unbelievable. However, you have to pick up your own trash, people go crazy when you want to get an upgrade of your guns or armor and ammo costs a fortune. On top of that grinding for money is stupid slow. It takes literally weeks to get hold of some cash and then it’s only a handful. And you have to pay taxes. - GreedySucka

The female characters can be crazy good to look at and they equip their toons with all sorts of nifty gear. But it’s a pain to get them to do anything fun. They also hog all your time and they’re not in the least bit interested to get better guns or spells themselves. - TubbyBitch

I’m going 10 out of 10 for sound and graphics, but playability is a paltry 4 [if you consider how long it takes to grind a pitiful amount of money and how long it takes to gain experience]. Value for money is 5. You can get a really great character, but unlike a decent MMORPG you don’t start out with the same chances everybody else gets. Been doing some MUCH needed revising to the CJC site. I have been adding things I have wanted for a while and removing things that needed to freaking die. We have company copyrights and other such "Official" things, but I need to completely overhaul the Tagging system. As for the podcast I have ironed out "Professional" music creation from Thomas McGurk from Bad Animals in Seattle for the shows and some other things. I am thinking about going with Libsyn for now since they are recommended by my fellow podcasters. I am still tweaking colors, fonts, and such so stick with me. I have added a poll to get some feedback from the 5 folks that actually visit my site.
